Energy Ministry outlines its Citizens Charter

Accra, July 9, GNA – Management and Staff of the Ministry of Energy on Wednesday agreed on a charter that would enhance the Ministry’s relations with its publics and also enhance its image. The Charter would also help the Ministry to promote world-class standards in energy production and distribution. Mr. Michael Kwesi Sarpong, Public Relations officer of the Ministry who made this known to the GNA said this was in accordance with a directive given by the President that would serve as an interface between clients and the Ministry.

The Citizens Charter, he said detailed out certain activities and duties that staff of the ministries would carry out and within a certain timeframe adding that; “it also contains service standards that clients are expected to demand and address areas of concerns raised by customers”.

Mr Sarpong noted that the charter would be distributed to all agencies under the Ministry and had also been given to the Ministry of Information to publish and advised all to adhere strictly to it. Service Standards in the Charter include; the facilitation of private sector participation in the energy sector, improvement and monitoring of the national energy programme, an increase access to energy through the National Electrification Scheme and client service reception.
