Police arrest four suspected robbers

Tema, July 5, GNA – Four suspected armed robbers who were caught dismantling a stolen car at an obscured place at old Weija has been handed over to the Sakumono Police.

Atitsogbe Kpodowu, 28, Julius Gali, 18, Danald Musah, 28 and Paul Kwasi Kwame, 32, were arrested by the Weija Police on July 1, dismantling a black Nissan Saloon Car with registration number GT 460 Z. The four, who claimed they were auto mechanics, told the police that they were hired by some people to dismantle the car. Inspector Olivia Turkson, Tema Police Public Affairs Officer told the Ghana News Agency in Tema that the owner of the vehicle, Mr Clement Agbetsi, on June 29 reported to the Sakumono police that three men wielding locally made pistols and knives snatched the car from him while he was visiting a friend at Community 20.

She stated that acting on a police wireless alert message on the robbery, the Weija police arrested the four suspects, who led them to the hideout of their accomplices, Aliu Ibrahim Mukaila, 28 years and Aaron Boameng, 32.

In a related development the Sakumono police have arrested Eric Akoto who went on robbery spree with one Vincent Monnie, now at large, in the early hours of June 28 at Communities 16 and 17 in Lashibi. Akoto and Monnie attacked two ladies at Community 16 with a locally manufactured pistol and cutlass and robbed them of their handbags. They also attacked a man at Community 17 and robbed him of a Nokia mobile phone and cash of GH¢22. The two robbers again attempted robbing one Mr Fred Awuah but they were chased away by some security men who responded to shouts by the man.
