Inculcate good values in children -Rev. Otuo Acheampong

Kumasi, July 1, GNA- Reverend Otuo Acheampong, Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church, has stressed the need for Christians to inculcate in their children good moral values to enable them to play positive roles in the socio-economic development of the country.

He noted that children as future leaders of the country needed to be given adequate guidance and protection in their formative years to adulthood, so that they would become assets to the nation. Reverend Otuo Acheampong was preaching the sermon at the closing session of the 23rd Annual Delegates Conference of the Asante Presbytery Men’s Fellowship of the Presbyterian Church at Old Tafo in Kumasi, at the weekend.

The three-day conference attended by over 800 delegates and members of the church was under the theme “Let us go on to Maturity-The Way to Please God”.

He was not happy about the increasing rate of immorality, including defilement, drug peddling, alcoholism, indiscipline and others among the youth and said such problems have affected development. The Chairperson appealed to the members of the Men’s Fellowship of the Church to intensify their evangelism activities and programmes to help transform the society. Reverend Otuo Acheampong advised Ghanaians to avoid negative tendencies like bribery and corruption, back-biting, rumour-mongering and others and rather contribute meaningfully towards the nation’s development. He asked them to have love and have compassion for the needy in society and support them at all times. Professor Kwasi Kwafo Adarkwah, Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and technology (KUST) and President of the Asante Presbytery Men’s Fellowship of the Presbyterian Church, announced that the Fellowship has embarked on the construction of Men’s Centre at Kwamo in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality at the cost of over GHC500,000. He advised Christians to be faithful and committed to the worship of God to enable them to obtain eternal life and salvation. The President urged the members of the fellowship to use the occasion to take stock of their activities and adopt effective and pragmatic measures to help improve on their performances.
