Busia’s statue to be unveiled

Sunyani June 19, GNA – A statue of the late Dr Kofi Abrefa Busia, Prime Minister of the Second Republic of Ghana, will be unveiled at the Jubilee Park in Sunyani on Friday, July 11.

Mr. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, who disclosed this to newsmen in Sunyani, said President John Agyekum Kufuor is expected to attend the unveiling ceremony. He said distinguished personalities including Ministers of State, MPs, academicians and others will also attend.

The Regional Minister stated that, a symposium on the life and works of Dr Busia as a citizen of Wenchi, an academician, a royal, politician, statesman and a devoted Christian would he held on Thursday, July 10.

The Regional Coordinating Council and the Busia Foundation are jointly organizing the events.

Mr. Baffour-Awuah added that excerpts of a film produced by Akosua Busia, one of the later Premier’s daughters, on the life and works of her father would be screened, as well as a photo exhibition. The Regional Minister said the ceremony would be held to honour Dr Busia for his immense contributions to the development of the region and Ghana.
