Mr Frank Kwame Busumtwi, Municipal Chief Executive, disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Akim Oda during the weekend. The projects, initiated by the assembly included a 20-seater water closet public toilet, a 3-Unit classroom block at Adukrom and the extension of a children’s ward of the Akim Oda Government Hospital. The MCE said the projects, some of which had been completed, would ease the sanitation and educational problems in the communities as well as the decongestion of the children’s ward of the hospital. According to him, DANIDA of Denmark and KfW, a German Organisation funded the projects. He said a total of 105 boreholes had been completed to help solve some of the acute water shortage affecting the communities in the municipality. He said the on-going DANIDA Sanitation Projects includes the construction of four KVIP and W C places of convenience and that 10 of such had already been completed. The MCE said the European Union and the Government of Ghana had undertaken the construction of teacher’s bungalow and a warehouse for the municipal assembly, saying, the projects were nearing completion. He commended the Government of Ghana, the German Government and other institutions that assisted the municipal assembly to execute the projects, since “their contributions had open up the municipality and enhance the people’s standard of living”.
