CPP will win 10 parliamentary seats in Ashanti – Regional Secretary

Kumasi, June 12, GNA – The Convention People Party (CPP) on Thursday says it will win ten parliamentary seats in the Ashanti Region in the December elections. Mr Akwasi Bosompem Boateng, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the party who told the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi said the CPP had so far re-organised its structures in all the 39 constituencies in the region. He added that signs clearly showed that people have enough sympathy and support for the party in the region.

Mr Boateng said the CPP was poised to wrestle the parliamentary seats in the Adansi and Ejura-Sekyeredumase Constituencies. He said so far, the party had elected parliamentary candidates for 34 out of the 39 constituencies in the region.

Mr Boateng pointed out that, the CPP under the leadership of Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, was would make significant inroads in the 2008 elections saying: “Ghanaians have now come to realize that, the CPP is the only party that could redeem them from the present socio-economic crisis.” He said the party was organizing a sensitization programmes for its foot soldiers and agents to enable them launch effective grassroots campaign to win more people for the party.

Mr Boateng appealed to Ghanaians to take a critical look at their present socio-economic conditions and vote for a party, which could deliver them from their present situation. That party, according to him, is the CPP, which had done it before and was capable of doing it again. He appealed to party supporters and sympathizers to work hard to canvass for votes for the party to enable it win the elections. 12 June 08
