NPP MP for Nkawkaw re-elected for the fourth time

Nkawkaw, June 5, GNA – Mr Okerchiri Kwabena Adusa, Member of Parliament for Nkawkaw, was on Wednesday re-elected for the fourth time to contest the seat for New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He obtained 68 votes to defeat his opponent Mr Yaw Owusu-Addo, Director of Radio at Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) who had 28 votes in an election supervised by Mrs Abigail Amponsah, Nkawkaw Municipal Electoral Officer at a delegates’ conference held at Nkawkaw. Seven delegates failed to attend the conference while a ballot paper was rejected.

Mr Adusa expressed appreciation to the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and appealed for unity within the Party to win the Presidential and Parliamentary elections in the constituency. Mr Owusu-Addo pledged to support and co-operate with Mr Adusa for the Party to retain the seat.

Mr Yaw Gyekye Amoabeng, Eastern Regional Chairman of NPP, said Government had performed creditably to sustain the country’s socio-economic development for the past eight years.

He said Nkawkaw Constituency had the second highest votes after Akim Oda in the Eastern Region during the 2004 elections. Mr Amoabeng urged activists, supporters and sympathisers of the Party to advise the youth who had attained 18 years to register when the voters’ register re-opened to exercise their franchise.
