Accra, June 2, GNA – Mr. Kofi Wayo, founder of the United Renaissance Party (URP), on Monday challenged journalists to go into investigative writing to bring out alleged wrong deeds by some government officials. He further charged the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) to see it as an obligation to protect the masses by venturing into voluntary investigations, especially the recent cocaine cases.
Mr. Wayo, speaking at a press conference said, “press save us from war,” and help Ghanaians to know the truth about the cocaine issues. He called for a grand jury to be set up to investigate the cocaine that was imported into the country and where it ended up. Asked how his government would deal with the cocaine issue, he said he would set up a special police task force to trail people in the business and added that he was not ready to reveal his entire secret. Mr Wayo, who used to opportunity to talk about his capabilities should he become president, said his administration would pursue policies that would save Ghanaians from the present economic hardship. “When I become president, Ghanaians will see transformation in the economy in three months,” he said.
Mr Wayo urged Ghanaians not to believe in what the World Bank and the IMF say about how well Ghana was doing and how it was improving her economy since all these were unrealistic.
