Fake Castle Soldier defrauds to the tune of 195.8 million cedis

The Tema police command says a man arrested for masquerading as a soldier from the Castle, Osu, and defrauding a businesswoman Musa Bukari alias “Major” Musa is now known to have taken 195.8 million cedis from other people.

A statement signed by the Tema Regional Police Public Relations Officer Inspector Yaw Nketia-Yeboah said Musa posed as a Major in the Ghana Armed Forces attached to the castle with additional responsibility of auctioning imported confiscated vehicles.

He is alleged to have issued his victims with fake Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority receipts after collecting monies from them promising to supply them with the vehicles at their various locations and cautioned them never to look for him at the harbor.

Through this activity, he was able to defraud Nii Adjei Kraku II, Tema Mantse and some chiefs of the Tema Traditional Council to the tune of 50 million cedes. The police described Musa who is a native of Wa as fair in complexion, about six feet tall, well built, noble looking and deceptively handsome. The police also reminded the public that the auctioning of confiscated vehicles is handled by the Customs, Excise and Preventive Service- CEPS.
