Regional Minister to foster unity in Obuasi assembly

Obuasi, May 25, GNA – Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has called for support in his efforts to foster unity in the Obuasi Municipal Assembly. He said the assembly could not pursue any development agenda if it would remain a divided house. Mr Owusu-Ansah, who was addressing the first ordinary meeting of the assembly Obuasi on Friday, proposed to meet the plaintiffs in a court case.

Eighteen members of the assembly recently took the former Municipal Chief Executive and the Municipal Co-ordinating Director to court and when the case was settled, another five members of the assembly instituted court action against the 18 members for what they termed “defamation of character”. “I will continue my efforts to foster unity among the members of the assembly and I hope you will all lend your support in this worthy course”. “If we dissipate our energies fighting one another instead of evolving and pursuing policies that will relieve our people of deprivation, squalor and disease, our electorate and indeed posterity will not forgive us,” he said. 25 May 08
