Kadjebi, May 25, GNA – Mr Musah Yamba Issahaku, Headmaster of Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School, has said 410 out of 460 first year students of the school are expected to benefit from government’s Northern Scholarship Scheme.
He said the scholarship entailed feeding grant and adsorbed fees aimed at supporting students of northern extraction studying in the region. Mr Issahaku said this on Saturday at an awards ceremony and send-off party for final year students and for Ms Nancy Attu-Asiedu, a teacher who taught in the school for 32 years. Uniforms for the school choir and a brass band were also dedicated.
He commended the government, the Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) and the Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School Old Students Association for their contributions to the administration, academic work and discipline in the school. Mr Issahaku appealed to government to replace the 30-year old truck with a bus to support the growing number of students currently pegged at 1,192. Mr David M. K. Dotsey, Kadjebi District Director of Education, said packages to reward excellence and hard work should be mainstreamed into the school system to serve as a podium for motivation and raising standards. Nana Otuo Siribuor II, Gyasehene of Asato and Chairman of Board of Governors, commended the government for upgrading of some second cycle schools.
He said the school’s 650-acre land donated by the Asato Traditional Authority could be transformed into a tertiary institution in the future and urged government to consider this proposition. Nana Siribuor said the school continued to record a 100 percent pass for five years. Ms Attu-Asiedu received a deep freezer, Mr Mbomedong Alanja, an accounting tutor, took home a television set for being adjudged best performer and Master Sulemana Dandjumah got the prize for being the best behaved student. 25 May 08
