Addiyia wins Ahafo-Ano North Parliamentary seat

Tepa (Ash), May 13, GNA- Mr Richard Akuoko Addiyia, a Finance Officer at the United Nations Office in Georgia, Russia, was on Monday elected as the parliamentary candidate of the Ahafo-Ano North Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in its primaries held at Tepa.

He polled 81 votes out of the 107 total votes to beat Mr Kwame Owusu Frimpong, the incumbent MP and three other contestants.

Mr Owusu Frimpong polled 14 votes, Nana Akua Asantewaa, a Caterer had three votes, Mr Kinglesy Nsiah Opoku, an employee of the Food and Drugs Board obtained six votes with Mr Yaw Awuah Boadu Ayeboafo, a former student of the Manchester University in the United Kingdom (UK) receiving two votes.

The election was supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC). In an address later, Dr Sarfo Adu Asuobonteng, the second Regional Vice Chairman of the party commended the delegates for their sense of maturity and comportment during the elections. He called on the supporters to rally behind Mr Addiyia to ensure victory in the 2008 elections.

Mr Addiyia thanked the delegates for electing him and appealed to the people for their support to enable the constituency win the parliamentary seat. 13 May. 08
