Bishop advised Christians against joining secret societies

Kumasi, April 28, GNA- The Right-Reverend Nuh Ben Abubekr, Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, has advised Christians against joining secret societies and practicing occultism.

He warned them against dealing with Spirits and said such practices should be discouraged, since it was not in line with the teachings of Christianity.

Bishop Abubekr was preaching a sermon to climax the 47th synod of the Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church at Bantama in Kumasi on Sunday.

He commended the church members for their contribution towards the Methodist Church Development Fund and the support of some of its development projects and evangelism activities.

Rt-Rev Abubekr said the diocese had made significant progress in its evangelization programme in the Sene District of the Brong-Ahafo Region by establishing 13 branches of the church.

He spoke against the activities and behaviour of some professed ministers of the gospel and called on the church to stand up against such miscreants.

Bishop Abubekr called on the members to co-operate with the newly-elected Bishop of the diocese, Very Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante, whom he described as an experienced minister with immense experience to help the diocese.
