UEW SRC President re-run election on Tuesday

Winneba (C/R), April 28, GNA – The re-run for the election of the President of the Student Representative Council (SRC) at the University of Education, Winneba takes place tomorrow, Tuesday, April 29.

Mr Eric Seyram Anku and Nana Addai Kwaku Ofori both level 200 students are contesting for the post, following the inability of any of them to obtain more than 50 percent of the total votes in the first round of the election last Thursday.

Mr Dennis Ampomah Bamfo, the Electoral Commissioner of the UEW told the Ghana News Agency at Winneba on Sunday.

In the first round of the election, Nana Ofori polled the highest votes 33.7 per cent, followed by Mr Anku with 37.0 per cent and Mr Akotey .S. Collins, a student of the Special Education Department came third with 29.3 per cent. The total vote was 7200.

Mr Bamfo appealed to the contestants to follow strictly the rules and regulations of the election and also advised their supporters to comport themselves to ensure peaceful and orderly election on Tuesday.
