New Kassena-Nankana West Reconstitutes Assembly

Navrongo (UE), April 27, GNA- Following the carving out of the Kassena -Nankana West District from the Kassena Nankana District, the Kassena-Nankana District Assembly has been reconstituted with an election of a new Presiding Member (PM).

He is Mr. Joseph Awakapta, a Circuit Supervisor with the Ghana Education Service (GES). He polled 24 of votes cast to beat other two contestants.

Mr. Paul Alou and Mr. Kizito-Kan-Nyomese the two losers, congratulated Mr. Awakapta on his victory and pledged their support for him.

In his acceptance speech, he thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and promised not to let them down. In his address, the District Chief Executive, Mr. Emmanuel Chegeweh noted that there must also be a competition in order to bring out the best.

He reminded assembly members that their jobs were sacrificial and they should educate their people on that. Mr. Chegeweh advised them to work harder in order to leave enviable legacy behind. The house also reconstituted its sub-committees.
