Four BECE candidates fail to turn up due to pregnancy

Juaso (Ash), April 23, GNA – Four out of seven girls who became pregnant after registering for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Asante Akim South District have refused to sit for the examination.

The remaining three, however, defied the stigma associated with their condition and are writing their papers to the admiration of some of their colleagues.

This came to light when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited some examination centres at Nadieso, Bompata, Obogu, Banso, Ofoase and Juaso in the District on Monday.

With a visibly bulging belly, one of the pregnant candidates told the She said she would not allow her condition to derail her ambition of becoming a useful citizen and expressed concern about her fellow pregnant candidates who boycotted the examination on the ground of their pregnancy.
