Don’t provoke opponents during electioneering campaigns-Nana Toku

Aboso (W/R), April 23, GNA- Nana Yaw Toku, Western Regional first vice chairman of National Democratic Congress (NDC), has advised supporters of political parties to avoid provocation and insults during electioneering campaigns leading to the 2008 Election. He said such behaviour could negatively affect the country’s infant democracy.

Nana Toku who was speaking at the inauguration of a new NDC ward office at Aboso called on supporters and functionaries of party to undertake campaign based on issues to enable the party to win the polls. Mr Kwasi Blay, NDC candidate for Prestea/Huni-Valley Constituency, said if voted into power, he would ensure judicious use of the MP’s Common Fund.

He said if the NDC was voted into power under the leadership of Professor John Evans Atta Mills, the party would revamp small scale mining, popularly known as “Galamsey” to help solve the problem of unemployment in the area.

Mr Blay who is also assembly member for Number Three Electoral Area at Prestea, advised the youth who have turned 18 years to register when the voters’ registrar opens next month. Mr Michael Gbedemah, NDC Chairman, Prestea/Hunu-Valley Constituency, said attempt by some individuals to dent the image of NDC’s flag bearer, Prof Mills as a sick person would not succeed rather such attempts would win more sympathizers for the flag bearer and eventually help NDC win the elections.
