YMCA President visits Ghana

The president of the World Alliance of Young Men Christian Association (YMCA), Martin Vogler, on Tuesday said the Alliance advocates debt relief for the poorest nations.

On his first visit to the Ghana YMCA branch, he said at a Geneva economic summit in June, members of the YMCA called for the cancellation of Africa’s debt.

Mr Vogler urged the youth to heed the call of Christ to go out and share the Gospel. He also encouraged the youth to take up leadership roles so they can fit into the society.

The president of Ghana YMCA, Mr Fred Reimmer, said though the Ghana branch has come a long way, there is the need to accelerate plans to prepare the youth to meet the challenges of future generations.

He called on society to wage war against drug trafficking, drug abuse and promiscuity among the youth.
