Stakeholders to hold final forum on Copyright Act

Accra, April 17, GNA – The Ministry of Justice will hold a final stakeholders forum on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 on the proposed Legislative Instrument Regulations after extensive discussions and debate on the Copyright Act (Act 690). A statement signed on behalf of the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice by Mr. Kwesi Krafona, Public Relations officer of the Ministry, said the essence of the forum was to sensitize stakeholders in the Copyright sector and the general public on the regulations.

It said it would collate their concerns and views for consideration by the Ministry of Justice before the Legislative Instrument was presented to Parliament for enactment. The Legislative Instrument will cover areas such as registration of Copyright, security device, levy on devices, operation of collective administration societies and the Copyright Tribunal.

The statement advised members of stakeholder institutions to forward their comments and concerns on the draft regulations to the leadership of their associations for presentation at the final stakeholders’ forum, where each group would be represented by 10 of their members.
