Wenchi, Dormaa West retain MPs

Wenchi (B/A), April 14, GNA – New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates at Wenchi and Dormaa West constituencies in Brong-Ahafo at the weekend retained their sitting Members of Parliament by popular acclamation for the upcoming general election. Professor George Gyan-Baffour, was retained as MP for Wenchi whilst Yaw Ntow-Ababio was reconfirmed for Dormaa West. The two stood unopposed at the close of nominations prior to the Party’s primaries held at Wamanafo and Wenchi. Addressing the delegates, Mr. Kwasi Adu Gyan, NPP Regional Chairman, implored members to rekindle their spirit and work hard to retain the seats.

Mr Gyan said the Party’s hierarchy intended to empower foot soldiers and make them financially sound to enable them to redouble efforts in house-to-house campaigns to woo more people to join the party towards an overwhelming victory. Prof. Gyan-Baffour and Mr. Ntow-Ababio thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to work hard to retain their seats.

Prof. Gyan-Baffour, who is also deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, promised to ensure that work on the Wenchi-Techiman and Wenchi-Bamboi roads are completed in time to facilitate the easy movement of the people to enhance the growth of local businesses. In a related development, Mr. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Regional Minister, has sworn into office five newly confirmed District and Municipal Chief Executives at a short ceremony in Sunyani. They are Mr. Bernard Nana Atta-Fena, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wenchi, Mr. Ankomah Kyeremeh, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sunyani West and Mr. Atta Amponsah, MCE for Dormaa.

Mr. Boanya Mensah is DCE for Sene and Mrs. Grace Donkor is the DCE for Nkoranza North. Mr. Baffour-Awuah charged them to work hard to complement government’s efforts in helping to improve on the lives of the people. He urged them to work in tandem with and respect the views of Assembly Members so they could initiate and execute development projects.
