AE team donates to Otumfuo Education Fund

Kumasi, April 11, GNA- The African Endeavour Team, a group of selected Military experts, professionals and technocrats drawn from Africa and Europe, on Thursday donated GH¢1000 to the Otumfuo Education Fund at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

Lt. Col. Richard Dollesin, Executive Director of the Team, who presented the cash, the gesture was aimed at supporting educational development in the country. He praised Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, for initiating the Fund and hoped it would complement government’s efforts to make education accessible to all. He said the Team was in the country to lay a solid foundation for the effective operation of the African Stand-by Force, whose work would commence in 2010.

African Endeavour is a US-European Command, is sponsoring a programme aimed at developing effective communications and information systems equipment with techniques, considered useful for peace, support and military operations, on the continent. Receiving the money, Oheneba Adusei Poku, Akyimpemhene, praised the Team for the gesture and said the money would be put to good use.

In a related development, the Team also paid a courtesy call on Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, Ashanti Regional Minister, where the latter briefed them on the landscape, population, business activities and tourism potentials of the region.
