Akwatiahene calls for efforts to develop the town

Akwatia, April 9, GNA – Osabarima Kofi Boateng 111, Akwatiahene, has appealed to his people, especially the youth, to join in efforts to develop the town. He expressed regret that laziness was becoming endemic in the town and people

were becoming apathetic towards programmes that sought to advance Akwatia’s

development agenda. Osabarima Boateng said this at a thanksgiving service as part of the 10th anniversary

celebration of the “Denkyembuo” festival. He decried the people’s lukewarm attitude towards communal labour and said there

was an urgent need to ensure that the town was kept clean. Osabarima Boateng spoke about discipline and said, “Let us do away with all acts

of indiscipline, let us rekindle communal labour and self-help spirit and ensure that we

promote sound environmental sanitation.” Osabarima Boateng called for support to complete the town’s library project that

was started 10 years ago and now at the lintel level. Touching on the upcoming general election, Osabarima Boateng advised his people

and all Ghanaians not to allow party politics to divide them but to see themselves as

belonging to one family in spite of their political differences. “We should therefore use decent language in our campaign and refrain from insults

that can be a recipe for acrimony and violence”, he said. Pastor Anthony Agbanyo, Chairman of the Akwatia Local Council of Churches, led the congregation to pray for a peaceful election and for progress and prosperity for the nation.
