Outgoing MCE files nomination papers to contest NPP primaries at Obuasi

Obuasi, April 4, GNA – Mr Joseph Kwadwo Boampong, the outgoing Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive, has filed his nomination papers to contest the Obuasi constituency New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries. Mr Boampong said he had faithfully served the party for years and that it was time the NPP reciprocated by supporting him to become the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency.

The parliamentary aspirant said he stood tall amongst the two other contestants, the sitting MP, Mr Edward Ennin and Mr Kwaku Kwarteng, the Government’s Spokesperson on Finance and that “he would give them a good run for their monies”.

Mr Boampong called for unity in the party and advised his supporters to avoid acts that would undermine his integrity and the peace the party enjoyed in the constituency.

Mr Stephen Acquah, the Constituency Secretary who received the nomination papers, reminded the three contestants to take a cue from the national delegates’ conference. He said in-spite of the many presidential candidates that contested, the unity, love and the spirit of togetherness in the party was never derailed.

“I want the aspirants to desist from campaigns of lies, undermining and wickedness,” he added.

Mr Acquah said they belonged to one political family and that they should support whoever emerged the winner to enable the party to win the seat again.
