“AsaBEE” seeks re-election

Saltpond (C/R), April 4, GNA – Mr. Stephen Asamoah Boateng, the New Patriotic Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman West Constituency on Sunday filed his nomination papers to seek re-election to Parliament. Two other aspirants, a man and a woman are also contesting the seat on the ticket of the NPP.

Addressing supporters of the party at the forecourt of the office of the Electoral Commission at Saltpond shortly after presenting his papers, Mr. Asamoah Boateng, who is also the Minister for Tourism and Diaspora Relations said he was seeking re-election to enable him to pursue some uncompleted programmes he had initiated for the constituency and the Mfantseman Municipality as a whole.

“I have come to you for the second time to seek your mandate to represent you in Parliament because I want to pursue further some programmes I have initiated, some of which has reached advanced stages of realization”, he said.

The MP said he would not like to blow his own trumpet but affirmed that what he was able to achieve during his tenure were visible for all to see and judge.

He called for unity among the rank and files of members and supporters of the party, and appealed to those who were 18 years and above but have not registered to do so when the voter register was opened in May. Mr. Robert Quainoo-Arthur, Municipal Chief executive (MCE) cautioned supporters against complacency, saying, “no one should be deceived that December general elections will be won on a silver platter, we have to work hard.”

The MCE commended Mr. Asamoah-Boateng for the good work he had done for the area and appealed to the people to rally behind him. Mr Abakah Hagan, District Electoral Officer, who received the papers appealed to the aspirants to conduct their campaign devoid of insults and personal attacks.
