Seventy eight out of the 81 aspirants from the 33 constituencies of the Eastern Region, who filed nominations to contest the parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have been cleared by the vetting committee.
The primaries are slated for November 7.
Three of the aspirants Kwame Darkwa Odame from Fanteakwa North, Anthony Gyimah from Abuakwa North and Nick Arthur from Nsawam –Adoagyiri, failed to meet the necessary criteria and were temporally disqualified.
Briefing the media after the vetting, Mr Solomon Nkansah, National Communications Officer of the party said, the three disqualified aspirants have uptill Monday; September 28, to make an appeal.
He explained that, some of the aspirants failed to meet the criteria because they had contested on the ticket of other political parties in the last elections, while others fell short of the guidelines.
Mr Nkansah said the party adhered to its principles and constitution.
He indicated that, all the nine females who filed nominations were cleared by the vetting committee, as well as the municipal and district chief executives, deputy ministers and the incumbent members of parliament.
The 13- member vetting committee was chaired by Mr Dan Abodakpi, leading member of the party and the committee sat for two days to vet all the 81 aspiring candidates.
