71-year-old farmer dies from snakebite at Juaso

Juaso-Ashanti, June 07, GNA – Opanin Peter Kwabena Asare also known as ‘Koo Jaki’, a 71-year-old farmer died when he was bitten twice by a snake on a foot path to his farm at Juaso in the Asante-Akim South District last Thursday.

A family spokesman, told Ghana News Agency that Opanin Asare left home with his grandson to the farm and on their way the snake suddenly attacked and bit the deceased twice on his right and left thighs. He said the grandson shouted for help and people from a nearby cottage rushed the deceased to Juaso District Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The corpse has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) mortuary in Kumasi for autopsy. 07 June 07
