700 dressmakers receive sewing machines

Kumasi, Aug 9, GNA – The National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), has presented sewing machines to 700 young men and women, who have completion a-six-month training in dressmaking under the programme’s yout= h in trades and vocation module in the Ashanti Region. This is to help the trainees to start their own businesses and become economically self-supporting.

Asongtaba Cottage Industry and Exchange Programme, a private development company, facilitated the training programme. Madam Anima Wilson, the Ashanti Regional Deputy Minister, said the presentation of the machines was a demonstration of the government’s commitment to job creation for the youth. He said the NYEP would continue to introduce various interventions and expand the modules to open employment opportunities for the youth and reduc= e poverty among the population. Madam Wilson asked the beneficiaries to adopt good management practices to grow their businesses. Mr Kobby Onasis, Regional Project Officer of the NYEP, advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the sewing machines for their own benefit= ..
