7 ‘murderers’ of Captain Mahama arrive in court; prosecutors to seek remand

Seven persons arrested for the gruesome murder of a military officer on national assignment at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region have been put before a Magistrate Court in Cape Coast amidst heavy security.

The seven, including an assembly member who is said to be the mastermind of the lynching and subsequent burning of a part Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama’s body arrived at the Court premises at about 8:10 am Thursday.

Police prosecutors are expected to seek a remand of the seven as investigations continue in the incident that has widely been condemned by Ghanaians including President Akufo-Addo, former presidents John Mahama and John Rawlings.

It is not clear yet the charges to be preferred but sources say they are likely to be charged for conspiracy to commit murder and murder.
