67th Synod of EP Church to elect new Moderator and Synod Clerk

Ho, Aug. 19, GNA – The Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Church, Ghana, would elect a new Moderator and Synod Clerk respectively on Saturday, August 23, 2008, the highpoint at its 67th Synod which begins on Thursday, August 20, under the theme, “Called to Serve”. The new Moderator and Synod Clerk would replace Right Reverend Dr. Livingstone Buama, Moderator and Rev. Frank Anku, Synod Clerk, both of whom have served two four-year terms, the mandatory maximum under the Church’s constitution.

This year’s Synod marks the Church’s 161st milestone. Mr George Ohene-Agbehali, the Church’s Administrative Assistant told the Ghana New Agency (GNA) that those vying for the two offices would not be known until the day of the elections when nominations by Pastors at a conclave would be opened with the three highest nominations in each case qualifying to contest the elections.

A letter circulated to all congregations of the church countrywide, counseled prospective nominees to desist from openly campaigning for prospective candidates but rather pray for the right persons to be chosen.
