65th Myohaung Day celebrated at Apremdo

Apremdo (W/R), Jan. 24,-GNA- A drum-head service was held on Friday at the Second Battlion of Infantry (2BN) to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Battle of Myohaung at Apremdo near Takoradi. Contingents of the 2BN, Takoradi Airforce Station and the Western Naval Command formed the parade under the command of Captain Eric Ametame. Music was provided by the Regimental Band of the Takoradi Airforce Station. Captain (Reverend) Ian Adjeetey Adjei and Lieutenant (Imam) Najmu-deen Agbere officiated at the service while Reverend Thomas Kwesi Addo consecrated the regimental colours of the battalion. Ex-Warrant Officer Class one Isaac Amoako, Secretary of the Western Regional Veterans Association read the history of the Battle of Myohaung.

Commodore Frank Daley, Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command was the guest of honour at the parade that was attended by service commanders, military personnel and public and civil servants. 24 Jan. 09
