63-year old pensioner in court for causing harm

A 63-year-old pensioner has appeared before a Bibiani Magistrate Court for causing harm and assault.

Paul Oscar Kwame Donkor denied the charges and was granted bail in the sum of GH¢1,200.00 to return to the dock on Thursday, August 23.

Police Detective Chief Inspector Alex Asamoah told the court presided over by Mr. Osei Kofi Amoako that the complainant, Kofi Gyapong, a taxi driver, lives in the same Bibiani Estate neighbourhood with the accused.

For some time now, relations between the two had been frosty.

On July 19, at about 0630 hours, Gyapong was about to begin his daily routine when all of a sudden and without any provocation, Donkor violently pushed him down and hit him in the face with punches.

He also tore the complainant’s shirt.

The prosecution said people attracted to the scene managed to free Gyapong and a formal report was made to the Police.**
