60th Anniversary of Winnesec launched in Winneba

Winneba (C/R), Nov. 30, GNA – The Pro-Vice chancellor of the University of Ghana, Legon, Professor Kwesi Yankah on Saturday, urged the staffs of the various Institutions to channel their grievances and concerns to the proper authorities for redress. He said by doing so, their concerns could be amicably discussed, instead of writing anonymous letters to higher authorities, which in some cases, discredits fellow workers, a situation, which does not help in the development of the society. Prof. Yankah made the call at the launch of the 60th anniversary celebrations of Winneba Senior High School, (Winnesec), at Winneba. The theme for the celebrations is “Quality Education A tool for nation building”.

He advised the students to take their studies serious to reciprocate the huge investments made by their parents, adding that, “you should learn hard and become useful future leaders”. Prof. Yankah, who is also the Board chairman of School, entreated the students to respect their tutors and school authorities and also ensure a high sense of discipline.

He said the celebrations should inspire both students and authorities to continue working harder, to develop the school. Mr Samuel Owusu Agyei, Minister for Public Sector Reform, commended the board, management and the teaching staff for their dedication to duty, which has resulted in the school making some progress. He said the government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has contributed immensely towards the promotion of education and asked students to ensure proper utilization of the resources for their own interest and that of the nation. Mr Owusu Agyei, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu constituency, urged Ghanaians to retain the government to continue with its developmental plans. The Head Mistress of the school, Mrs Cecilia Kwakye Coffie, commended the government and the PTA for providing the school with some of its needs.
