Ningo, April 7, GNA – The Deputy Interior Minister, Captain Nkrabea Effah Darteh (RTD), on Wednesday commissioned a 563 million -cedi reconstructed Police station at Old Ningo, in the Dangme West District of the Greater Accra Region.
The project was in fulfilment of a promise made by the President, Mr John Agyekum Kufuor during his re-election campaign tour of the area last year.
Capt. Effah Darteh stated that the construction of the project was a clear indication of a new type of politics that the ruling New Patriotic Party was practising.
He said it was also meant to change public perception that politicians often do not fulfil their electioneering promises. He said the road between Old and New Ningo had been awarded on contract while works on the bridge connecting the two towns is near completion.
The Minister asked the people to make the Police Station their first point of call to settle all grievances instead of attacking it to register their protest as had been the practice in some parts of the country.
Capt. Darteh urged parents to invest their resources in the education of their children in other for them to grow up to become useful citizens and not criminals.
The Deputy Inspector of Police in Charge of Finance and Administration, Mrs Elizabeth Mills Robertson, thanked the President for his support to the Police and expressed the hope that the facility would enable the Police in the area to discharge their duties efficiently. She advised the people to cooperate with the Police by providing them with information on the hideouts of criminals.
The Mankralo and Acting President of the Ningo Traditional Council, Nene Kanor Atiahpah III, expressed his happiness to the President for honouring his promise which he said was regarded as mere political rhetoric.
