50 NPP members defect to NDC; Declare support for Victor Smith

Fifty (50) supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Abuakwa North Constituency of the Eastern region have defected from the party and joined two other constituency executives to support the parliamentary bid of Ghana’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Victor Smith.

The 50 supporters in the ensuing drama in the constituency have since pledged their allegiance to support National Democratic Congress (NDC’s) parliamentary candidate, in the 7 December elections.

The defected members comprising polling station executives according to Abronoma Nyarko of Kofpridua-based Bryt Fm, promised to work assiduously to make Ambassador Victor smith the parliamentarian for the constituency.

Leader of the group, Andrew Oduro Gyimah (Oske) indicated that successive MPs who are mainly from the NPP have failed the people in the area by neglecting constituents after each election despite several promises they made to them.

He said members have decided to vote for the NDC due to efforts by Ambassador Smith to lobby and also initiate projects and policies that would help transform the wellbeing of his constituents.

“We are tired of following the NPP because we cannot see anything our current and previous MPs have done to improve the living conditions of their people”, he alleged.
