5 die in Sampa road crash

Five persons have been confirmed dead in a road accident at Sampa in the Brong Ahafo region.

The incident occurred Saturday night when a Samyang Istana mini bus with registration number A- 4783-12 traveling from Kumasi to Atebubu burst a tire and somersaulted killing four passengers and the driver instantly.

Three others who survived are currently receiving treatment at the Atebubu Government Hospital.

Last week, eight others died in a similar fashion on the same road.

The Atebubu district Police commander who confirmed the incident to Starr News said the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Atebubu hospital morgue.

He blamed the frequent rate of accidents on that particular stretch of road on the failure of drivers to carefully inspect their vehicles before moving them.
