?46 million is nothing big – GPHA Director

The Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) Ben Owusu Mensah has admitted the financing of a new kitchen cabinet in his private home with funds from the GPHA.

He explained , that as Director General he is entitled to the ?46 million expenditure incurred by the authority to furnish his private residence.

Speaking on Joy FM?s Super Morning Show, the GPHA boss defended the purchase of the items for his private home, but denied knowledge of the cost of the kitchen cabinet.

He argued that as per the service conditions of GPHA, he would be required to return the items or pay in the event of his retirement or termination. He said he was entitled to the kitchen cabinet and the Estate officers of GPHA decided the amount.

So when he is leaving office he would either pay for it or the authorities would deduct the money from his benefits.

? ? 46 million is nothing big because all directors are entitled to it.? he said.
