Akosua Serwaa refutes claim of joint widowhood rites with Odo Broni

The family of late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba has refuted claims made by media personality Akwasi Aboagye suggesting that both women associated with the musician Akosua Serwaa and Odo Broni had reached an agreement to jointly perform the widow rites.

In a statement dated 26th October 2025, signed by Akosua Serwaa and Ernestina Fosuh, a sister of Daddy Lumba, the family dismissed the claim as inaccurate.

According to the statement, a family meeting was held on 23rd October, during which Odo Broni was asked to present proof of marriage to the late musician in the form of a marriage certificate. However, she was reportedly unable to produce the document.

The family elders, therefore, stated that the only legally recognised proof of marriage remains the certificate held by Akosua Serwaa, which was issued both in Germany and Ghana.

The letter further emphasised that since the matter is currently before the court, the family has resolved to allow the issue to be determined judicially, rather than through public commentary.

The statement concluded by urging the public and media to refrain from spreading misinformation about the family’s internal proceedings as they await a legal resolution.
