400 Offinso Farmers To Export Cassava Chips

Offinso (Ash) A total of 400 farmers in the Offinso district have been targetted under a special scheme for large scale production of cassava chips for export. To strengthen their capacity, the Agricultural Development Bank has promised to provide financial assistance and farming inputs to selected farmers in the area. Mr Kwaku Minka Fordjour, Offinso District Agricultural Co-ordinator, disclosed this in a briefing with the GNA at Offinso on initiatives being taken by the Ministry to encourage peasant farmers to venture into the production of cassava chips to enhance the export drive. He said the Ministry has instituted a programme to support the farmers with improved cassava varieties. Mr Fordjour appealed to the farmers to take advantage of the export promotion drive of non-traditional export crops to earn more money.
