4-year-old child burnt to death in Western Region

A four-year-old boy has been burnt to death in a fire outbreak at a house in Tarkwa in the Western Region.

The boy, Walid Mohammed, said to be sick, was left in a room by his father who was taking care of him at the time. Mother of the child had left him in the care of his father who also left him in their room to buy something nearby.

It is unclear what caused the fire on the house that is opposite the Tarkwa DVLA office. Although personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service were called in, they could not save the child from the fire which got out of control. The child’s charred body was later retrieved by the Fire Service personnel.

According to the landlord who gave his name only as Ibrahim, he had asked the bereaved family to vacate the place, which is an outer apartment in his house but they pleaded for more time because they do not have the financial means to rent a place.
