37-year-old man fined for wounding father

Tema, Sept. 20, GNA – The Tema Court ‘A’, has imposed a fine of 20 million cedis on a 37-year-old man, who wounded his 73-year old father without provocation.

Isaac Dwaah Jnr. pleaded guilty to a charge of intentionally and unlawfully causing harm and would be jailed for eight years in default.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Mary Assunta told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that, on September 2004 at Community Eight, the complainant was informed by his wife, who is a step mother of the accused that, there was a misunderstanding between the accused and herself.

Chief Inspector Assunta said, the following day, September 9, Mr Dwaah Snr. Isaac attacked his father with a hammer in hand and wounded him seriously on his head.

The prosecution said the complainant was rushed to the Tema General Hospital where he was admitted. A report was later made to the police, and the accused person was arrested.
