36-year-old farmer in police custody for defilement

Koforidua, Feb. 1, GNA – Joseph Tetteh, a 36- year- old farmer was on Friday put in Police custody for allegedly defiling a five- year- old girl at Nkurakan in the Eastern Region. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mrs Eunice Annor, said on January 1, the victim was playing with som= e children on her compound when the suspect whisked her into a nearby farm an= d forcibly had sexual intercourse with her, compelling her colleagues to run away in fear.

DSP Annor said on January 5, the victim narrated her ordeal to her parents and a report was made at the Nkurakan Police Station leading to the arrest of the farmer who confessed the crime. She said a police medical form was issued to the complainant for treatment and report. DSP Annor said the form endorsed by a medical officer indicated that the vagina entrance of the victim had been bruised while her hymen was broken.
