31-year-old labourer electrocuted

Edem Akabah, a 31-year- old Labourer, who hails from Kpando in the Volta Region was electrocuted in Takoradi when a pickaxe he was working with hit an underground electrical cable.

The Western Regional Public Relations Officer of Ghana Police Service, Assistant Superintendent of Police Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, confirmed the death to the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi on Friday.

She said Akabah was a casual employee of Comsys Company Limited based in Accra, who was asked to dig trenches to lay internet service cables in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

The incident occurred on Thursday August 15, at 1530 hours in front of Ecobank Takoradi Harbour branch.

The corpse had been deposited at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital pending autopsy.
