31 drivers fined for various traffic offences

Hohoe, Aug 02, GNA – A total of 31 drivers have been fined 15.2 million cedis by the Hohoe and Kpando Circuit courts for traffic offences brought before them by the Hohoe Divisional Motor Transport and Traffic Unit in a bid to clamp down on indiscipline on the roads. They all pleaded guilty to over-speeding, over loading, reckless driving, non-possessing of valid driving licence and drunk driving, Chief Inspector Samuel Gbedemah said.

Boison Amuzu, who could not pay a fine of 3.5 million for reckless driving over-speeding and over-loading, was sentenced to 21 months imprisonment in hard labour.

Joseph Botchway was banned 12 months and fined 12 million cedis for driving without a valid licence.

Deputy Superintendent of Police M.K Tattah, Hohoe Divisional Commander of MTTU, said the operation would be sustained.
