300 sex workers & criminals arrested in Ashanti Region

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested about three hundred (300) suspected criminals and sex workers in some criminal dens within the metropolis in the Ashanti region.

The suspects were arrested during police swoop today (October 12, 2017) in areas such as Tinka, Ahodwo, Adum, Pampaso, Railways, Columbia, Abrem, Asafo BB, Akwatia line, Besease, Abenase, Onwie, Sokoban Wood Village, Moshie Zongo, Kotoko among other places.

The suspects comprise females and males of whom some are foreigners.
The operation was conducted by the regional command, Tafo police, Suame police, Ejisu police, Manhyia and Asokwa police.

Addressing journalists in Kumasi, the regional police commander COP Ken Yeboah indicated that five suspects arrested for possessing ‘wee’ will be handed over to the Drug Law Enforcement Unit for further investigation after screening is conducted.

Abusua Dawuro’s Osei Kwadwo reported that 35 females suspected to be sex workers have been handed over to the Anti Human Trafficking Unit.
