300 Ghanaian immigrants stranded at Libyan airport

Some Ghanaian immigrants in Libya are stranded at the airport in Tripoli after some self-styled travel agents defrauded them of huge sums of money under the pretext of helping them travel from Tripoli to Europe.

The Ghanaians numbering about three-hundred are currently frustrated on the streets of Tripoli with no hopes of traveling to Europe anytime soon neither are they hopeful of getting refund of their monies.

This was disclosed in an exclusive interview with host of Abusua FM’s late afternoon drive time show, Ike De-Unpredictable.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, one of the immigrant said though life in Libya is very terrible, he doe not regret going there to seek greener pastures.

He said, “when I was in Ghana, I worked tirelessly for many years…close to twenty years and yet couldn’t afford to rent a decent accommodation for myself. I couldn’t even buy a piece of land.

“But since I came to Libya in 2011, I have been able to build a self-contain apartment back in Ghana and so to me, by coming to Libya, I have been able to achieve something though we live in fears here.”

Meanwhile the stranded Ghanaians are calling on government to roll out friendly policies to make life worth living for Ghanaians in Ghana.
