30 volunteers update knowledge on HIV/AIDS prevention

Wassa-Akropong (W/R), May 30, GNA – Thirty volunteers made up of community-based caregivers, and HIV/AIDS advocates from 10 communities in the Wassa-Amenfi East District ended a three-day refresher course on HIV/AIDS prevention at Wassa-Akropong on Tuesday. It was organised by the Sekondi-Takoradi diocese of the Catholic Church in collaboration with the Catholic Relief Service and USAID. Mr John Dominic Andoh, Diocesan HIV/AIDS programme coordinator said the course was to update the knowledge and skills of participants to enable them to check the spread of the pandemic through public education and other sensitisation of the people.

They were taken through topics including communication skills, community entering and how to relate to people living with aids to reduce stigmatisation.
