On October 6, 2025, during a heavy downpour at dawn, the complainant, who resides near Julius Beer Bar, reportedly stepped out of his room around 2:00 a.m. to urinate and noticed someone moving inside the bar. Suspecting foul play, he quickly alerted his brother, George Gadire, and together they rushed to the scene.

Sensing danger, the accused attempted to flee after removing a jackpot machine and a sack containing footwear from the bar. The complainant and his brother pursued and apprehended him. A search conducted in the presence of the bar owner revealed several stolen items, including a Samsung Galaxy A06 mobile phone , an Itel Android phone , a Samsung phone , an Itel keypad phone , an A80 Pro keypad phone, sixteen pairs of ladies’ and children’s footwear , and cash amounting to GH₵553.00 totaling GH₵4,863.00 of the item stolen .

The accused was arrested and taken to the police station along with the recovered items. During interrogation, he admitted to the offence in his caution statement, made in the presence of an independent witness. He confessed that he took advantage of the heavy rainfall to break the padlock of the bar with an implement, gained entry, and stole the aforementioned items. However, his escape attempt failed, leading to his arrest.

Although the court initially considered a two-year custodial sentence, the prosecution informed the court that the accused was a known offender who had previously been convicted and jailed in 2019 for stealing gold at a galamsey site. Taking this into account, His Lordship Simon Nketiah Gagah sentenced Bright Antwi to four years imprisonment.
