27 android phones, motorbike stolen at Tumu

Thieves in Tumu in the Sissala East District of the Upper West Region have burgled a Phone Shop making away several mobile phones and other accessories in just one night.

Hi Tech mobile Phone shop close to the police barrier was broken into and about 27 Android smart phones valued at GH¢12, 000 were taken away.

According to owners of the shop, the stolen phones include; Infinix, Samsung, techno and Huawei.

Boxes of the stolen phones were however left with batteries. Police have since visited the scene of the crime.

On the same night, the thieves stole a Huajie motorbike belonging to a nurse at Low-Cost quarters after they scaled the wall of the tightly closed wooden gate.

A family source told Tumu-based Radford FM the bike was brought home from Kong; a nearby community where the nurse works.

Information gathered reveals that the thieves took advantage of lights out in the area to operate in the wake of claims by the police they have intensified patrols in the area.

This also occurs few days after the regional Police command visited Tumu and Gwollu to interact with residents to solicit deeper collaboration to fight crime.

The entire Upper West region for the past weeks is witnessing an upsurge in criminal activities involving armed robberies, car hijacking, stealing with Tumu being the latest to be hit with four motors last week and last night twin stealing of phones and a motorcycle.

Tumu is currently without a substantive Police commander.

Some residents believe that the absence of the brave and celebrated successor to the former District Police Commander, ASP Ayesu has left space for criminals to operate.
