26-year-old mason imprisoned for defiling 13-year-old girl

A Juaso Circuit Court has convicted 26 year old Joshua Kofi Kyei for defiling a 13 year-old girl.

Joshua Kofi Kyei pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared before the court presided over by Mr. Alex Tetteh.

Narrating to facts of the case to the court, Police Detective Chief Inspector Thomas Obour said the incident happened at Odumase in the Asante-Akim Central Municipality on January 26, this year.

Police Detective Chief Inspector Thomas Obour said the convict had sent the unsuspecting minor to draw water for him from a nearby public standpipe and as she returned, grabbed and dragged her into his room, where he sexually assaulted her.

The girl after she regained her freedom headed straight to the house to inform his senior brother and a formal report was made to the police.

Kyei was arrested and his caution statement admitted having sex with the victim but denied this was done through the use of force.
