Koforidua, Aug. 21, GNA – The Rt. Rev. Benjamin Francis Quashie, Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church, has called on church leaders to stop the use of church buildings for social gatherings, which do no promote evangelism and goodwill among men. He said chapels were constructed for the worship of God and the holiness of the place needed to be maintained at all times. Rt. Rev. Quashie was speaking at the dedication and consecration of a 250 million cedi new church building of the St Francis of Assisi Anglican Church at Adweso, near Koforidua on Sunday.
The chapel, which was started in 1997 was completed through the contribution of members of the Parish and some well-wishers. Rt. Rev. Quashie called on the Church to establish a permanent organization to cater for the needy in society.
He said periodic presentations by the church to the needy were too cosmetic and that needed to be improved upon to enable the church to fulfil its social responsibility to its members. Rev. Fr. Obeng Ofosu, Parish Priest, said members were aiming at the construction of a mission house for the parish.
